Announcing the 2010 Fall Assembly of the Board of Directors of the SCCSC, to be held Saturday, September 19th, 2009 in Long Beach at 134 The Promenade North, Long Beach California, 90802.

The meeting will start at 11:00 AM with a lunch and social hour and official meeting to follow at 12:00 PM.

The meeting should be considered mandatory and each team must send at least one officer. It is recommended that teams send three officers, President / Captain, Treasurer, and Marketing / Prodeal representative to the Assembly.

Topics will include ratification of the 2010 SCCSC Operating Budget, Confirmation of Bylaws, Competition Schedule, Team Management, and others.

The 2009 SCCSC Awards banquet went off on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Ceasar’s Palace. Representatives from nearly every team in the league were on hand to receive awards at the event.

For those who attended the 2009 banquet, it will likely be remembered for a long time to come. The late spring day was warm, the pool was refreshing, and the Vegas air conditioners were on full blast the whole time!

The weekends activities began with an unforgettable Spring Assembly of the Board of Directors of the SCCSC, where financial, schedule, and management decisions were made about the 2010 season. For the first time in over a decade, according to those who have been involved with the league as long, an election for the SCCSC President was not held. This was due to the 2008 vote to instill a two year term for the office of the President. However, that did not stop the 2009 Board from making a change to the top office of the SCCSC. For the 2010 season, the position of President will be filled by Patrick Wilcox, who has been SCCSC Vice President since 2005 and added Treasurer to his duty roster in 2009. The SCCSC will be needing a Treasurer for the 2010 season, a duty which Past President Collin Casper has offered to fulfill until a permanent replacement is found.

The Awards Banquet started slowly as the afternoon’s activities kept the SCCSC staff from making preparations and finishing tabulations for the season’s awards and the athletes in attendance enjoyed the impromptu social hour while awaiting the announcements of the season’s Champions. Once in full swing, it was UCLA who proved to cheer the loudest as the champions were announced. Overall combined Ski and Snowboard Team winners were UCSB in third, UCSD in second, and UCLA as grand champion. Ski Team combined winners included third place UCLA, second place USC, and first place UCSB while Snowboard team combined results featured UCLA, CSULB, and UCSD in the top three spots, respectively. Individually, congratulations are due to men’s skier Richie Conroy of LMU for his top finishes in Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Skier Cross as well as Men’s Skiing Combined. Congratulations are also due to combined discipline winners: Haley Yolken, Women’s Skiing, Mallory Nordblad, Women’s Snowboarding, and Morgan Medove, Men’s Snowboarding. The closing of the 2009 Awards Banquet marked the closing of the 2009 SCCSC Competitive Season. The onset of summer marks the end of a year of competition and while it is refreshing to bask in the summer’s heat—to winter athletes, the anticipation of next season never subsides!
