Southern California Skiers Qualify for Nationals
For the first time in the 11 years of recorded history with the current SCCSC staff, a Southern California Ski Team has qualified for the USCSA National Championships.
Loyola Marymount University’s Men’s ski team has the honors of representing the SCCSC at Sunday River, Maine during the first week of March. Shouts of joy erupted from the team’s athletes and coaches when the Slalom race results were announced at the Regional Qualifier Coaches Meeting Saturday February 20th, 2010. Weather cancellations extended the team’s Slalom qualification to the Giant Slalom discipline as well the following day.
Joining LMU’s team in Maine for Alpine Skiing is SCCSC Individual Female Skier Haley Ells from UC Santa Barbara. Ells qualifies as an individual from the Far West Region as the top finishing competitor not on a qualifying team.
The SCCSC is proud of LMU and Ells, and wishes them luck at Sunday River!
